There are several valid reasons to use these on-line services. A person who uses on-line office applications may not want to spend money on a regular office suite, or may just need to have the documents stored where he can get to them from anywhere. Indeed, by storing your documents on one of these on-line services, you can go anywhere in the world that’s connected to the Internet and still access them.

Another aspect of this is on-line backup. If your company has computers, you likely already know about the importance of doing backups, and about having copies both on and off-site. These backup services may be a good alternative to building your own remote facility.

A home user can also take advantage of an on-line backup service. Some services provide software that automatically backs up your computer as you use it. So, there’s no need to remember to manually perform backups. Most services will work with either MacOS or Windows. (If you use Linux, some services work with it, as well.)
